Melissa was born and raised in Massachusetts and has over 40 years of dance experience. She received her dance training primarily in the New England area and has had the privilege of studying under dance legends such as Luigi, Gus Giordano, Rhee Gold, Frank Hatchett and Dianne Walker. While studying dance, Melissa performed with the Worcester Ballet Society in their productions of “The Dream” and “Gershwin” and competed at the regional and national level. Upon graduating from high school, Melissa was accepted into the Boston Conservatory dance program. At that time, she chose to pursue her career as a dance teacher and choreographer and continued to study all genres of dance in Boston and New York City.
Currently, Melissa is a member of the New England Dance Masters of America Chapter 8 and the Dance Teacher’s Club of Connecticut. Melissa continues her studies and holds certifications from Dance Teacher Magazine, Progressing Ballet Techniques, Alixa Flexibility and YogaRenew. She has taught at and owned studios in both Colorado and Massachusetts and currently is the owner/director of Revival Academy of Dance located in Rochdale, MA.
Melissa has been recognized regionally and nationally for her choreography and creativity. She has extensive training in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, acro and choreography, and her pieces continue to receive numerous high scores and special recognitions. Her students have been awarded high scores, special awards and both regional and national titles, and many have gone on to major in dance at well-known colleges and conservatories.
During her years, she has worked as the Assistant Performing Arts Director at Shepherd Hill Regional High School, where she choreographed their award-winning show choir, as well as with several local performing arts companies. She has been hired to pose the models for local costume retail companies and, adding to her perspectives on dance, Melissa has also worked for regional and national dance competitions as an adjudicator for the past 7 years. She is very excited to begin this new journey and continue to inspire developing dancers with her knowledge and love of dance.
